The Power of CenteriC Carbon

Our carbon has a larger bead size and surface area for higher adsorption/ removal of substances, primarily targeting cytokines. This leads to greater removals of toxic compounds. The lengthy transit along the intestines allows for extended opportunity to remove cytokines.

C60, Buckminsterfullerene or “Bucky Balls,” have only 60 atoms of carbon for adsorption/ antioxidant effects. Carbon is characterized as the 4th most abundant element in the universe and 15th most abundant element in the Earth’s crust. In our bodies, carbon is only second (18 %) to Oxygen (65 %). Carbon is quite reactive and forms compounds by covalent bonding. In prehistoric ancient human civilizations (Egyptians and Sumerians around 3750 BC), it was used in the form of charcoal or coal.  In 1772, Antoine Ferchault de Reaumur formally discovered carbon as a novel element that could be used to transform iron into steel.


Oral use of carbon for medical reasons dealt with toxicities. Activated charcoal to induce vomiting was introduced to adsorb unwanted toxic stomach contents to remove them from the body.  Absorption is like water filling the surface and interior of a sponge. Activated carbon attracts and holds organic chemicals from vapor and liquid streams cleaning them of unwanted chemicals. In industrial use, it acts in column filters to remove impurities.  In medical uses, it functions similarly to remove toxins. The pore size of the carbon spheres determines the items the carbon will adsorb. Our carbon beads at CenteriC Carbon have a pore size that will adsorb Cytokines.

When we are injured, our bodies have an innate ability to start the repair/ healing process. It is by the inflammatory cascade. Inflammation is a natural response to illness and injury whether acute or chronic. The inflammation can heal but also can lead to tissue injury if it increases unchecked. Much recent research suggests that chronic inflammation is a factor in up to 80 % of all chronic conditions, especially those named autoimmune diseases.

Cytokines are signaling proteins released in the inflammation cascade. Differing names for cytokines include: lymphokines, monokines, chemokines and interleukins. There are both pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines. Pro-inflammatory cytokines have been shown to be
involved in pathologic pain affecting sensory neurons. This can be in the
periphery of the body or in the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) linked to central sensitization.

If there is an over-abundance of cytokines, a vicious cycle is started which damages tissues throughout the body. This upregulation can become self-sustaining. Removing excess production/ secretion of cytokines can work to reduce their harm to end organs. The effort is to restore normal levels of the signaling proteins.

Our carbon pore size of the spherical beads is
designed to work in the size range for cytokines. Through diffusion out with the intestinal contents, the carbon beads will gently remove the excess cytokines.

The size of our porous spheres is too large to cross cell membranes and therefore, in oral form, truly never enters the body. It stays in the intestinal tract removing substances. In our human trials, no serious side effects were encountered. For those on birth control pills or Eliquis (apixaban) blood thinner, the effectiveness of those medications may be lowered and individuals should exercise extreme caution in using CenteriC Carbon.
